A Thousand Splendid Suns - Khaled Hosseini

An amazing book that deals with the hardships that people had to deal with, especially woman, in Afghanistan in the past half a century. It follows two women through their course in life, and though they differ greatly and had radically different lives, they are brought together in suffering and find a unique bond through circumstance.

This and fantastic book that is told with such perspective yet at the same time touching personal stories that break your heart.

This is not young adult because it has many heavy themes, such as domestic violence, war, religious discrimination, sexism and capital punishment.
